Second Chance off for editing

Just sent that taboo tale off for editing, so it should be ready for the contest in time to post it Thursday to appear Friday morning.

Got a bit more done on Lowborn, and tweaked some of what I’d already written.  Building up to the culmination, so I want the pacing to be perfect when it hits the final action.

I did the database work for the new “Shorts” section, so now I need to get down to business coding the pages.  I’m hoping to have that done in a couple of weeks, but you never know.  At the rate I’m writing across several stories, I don’t want to break that momentum for very long on something else.

A little wind down after the edit, and I’ll see which of the open files is singing to me to write on tonight.

1500 on Lowborn

Finished Second Chance earlier this morning.  I’ll start on the editing process for it later on today.

In the meantime, I jumped back on Lowborn and got up to the 1500 word mark.  I’ll be continuing with that shortly, after I’ve taken a break.  A little plot revelation, and this one is going to heat up.

Don’t think it’s going to be long before I finish it.  With any luck, I’ll have it done and a full cold read finished before the Summer Lovin’ contest at Lit ends.  That would put me in a perfect position to get the first chapter edited and post it right after the end of the contest.

It will feel so good to have a couple of months worth of regular weekly postings rolling.

Did I say “start”?

Well, I did start that taboo story, and I’m almost finished with it *laugh*  Odds are that if I don’t finish it tonight, it will probably be done tomorrow.

That would give me all of the beginning of next week to get it edited, so it would be ready to post on Thursday/Friday next week for the contest.

So, keep your eyes out for “Mom’s Second Chance” if you like my taboo tales.

If you don’t, at least you know it isn’t going to take much time away from the other things I’m writing *laugh*  I’ll also have it out of my head, as it’s been clogging up the muse works.

First Devan story done

Just finished the first of that trilogy of Devan shorts.  I’ll probably finish them all before I post any of them on the new “shorts” section, which I still have to code *laugh*

Got a little done on Lowborn.  I’m almost to the big, final conflict now.  Once I hit that, it should be a quick run to the ending.  Hoping conditions around here are conductive to writing this weekend.

Probably going to start on a new taboo story for the summer contest soon.  It’s been bugging me during musing sessions for Lowborn and SOTM, so I think I’m going to have to get the darn thing out of my head *laugh*

What’s speaking to me

Well, what’s speaking to me right now is “Lowborn”.  I just read back through the first seven chapters again for the umpteenth time.  For the first time, I didn’t make any changes other than eliminating a couple of “this word repeats too soon after I used it”.

I backspaced a little bit of Ch. 08, because I felt as if it was getting off track.  I’m taking a slightly different angle with one of the main characters than I’d originally intended, and the changes reflect that.

Really, that’s been the only thing holding this story back for a while.  Resolving this character to get to the ending that’s been waiting for me to write it was the stumbling block.  Once I can get that finished, I think this one will be ready to roll, and I’ll have a couple months worth of weekly releases ( they’re all going to be about 5.5-6k words each, I believe )

Finally finishing this one after so long might just give me a boost, too.

Working on SOTM 19 in the background as well.  Just not enough true wordage to really report.  Maybe after I get past the stumbling block in Lowborn.

Might be entering the summer contest at Lit.  Eligibility means nothing to me, as winning isn’t what I enter them for in the first place ( though, I’m always tickled by the wins — if not so much the trollish aftermath on the forums there )  There’s a chance of a new Magic of the Wood there.  The idea is brewing.  May make another venture into taboo similar to my Christmas story as Les, too.

I’m going to try to stay more active here on the blog.  Now that the struggle to finish Beauty has put me in a writing mode — at least for a while.  Never know how long one of these is going to last.

Still waiting on the first reader to get back to me on Beauty for the tweaks and then the final edit.  As soon as it’s ready, I’ll put it up at SOL and update at Lit.
