Yes, I’m alive

Figured I’d better drop a quick note.

Got caught up in another creative drought.  I’m still fiddling with things here and there, but not really feeling any spark.

When I hit one of these slumps, I’ve learned not to fight it.  I make tentative forays into different stories, but don’t push too hard.  When I do, it just gets worse and lasts longer.

Eventually, I’ll have an idea that refuses to let me go, and that’s usually the spark for forward momentum.

    Well.
Sorry to hear about the slump, but at least you have a method for working around them.

Oddly, I use the same method.
More oddly, it’s been…oh…6 months now since I wrote anything? Still got Jack-all for ideas.

Hope your turnaround time works out better.

I’ve got ideas out the wazoo. Always do.

Once I hit one of these slumps, I just can’t bring any of them to a conclusion *laugh*

Got a simple one now that’s a potential Winter Contest idea for Lit ( as RR ) so I’m going to give that a shot. A lot of time, it’s those simple, plot-lite strokers that get me back into the game. They’re easier to write, and the sense of accomplishment gives me a boost that can sometimes break these bad streaks.

Right now, nothing’s moving. I’m still trying to get out of the funk I’ve sunk into.

The next chapter is started, though. Finished the two opening scenes that transition some things from the last chapter, and got started on the scene that follows up the cliff-hanger.

That’s the one that hit me with slow-going. It’s a pivotal moment where the story is going to shift gears, and it’s got to be right for the rest of the story to hang on it.
