4k on Heart

Up to 4k words on Heart of the Wood now.  Just put inthe “catalyst” I’ve mentioned a couple of times, and it’s working for me.  Think it’s going to provide the right transition to pass some time and speed up the writing of the relationship.

( It actually happens over the course of around a month )

Just need to hit one or two critical moments to get these two nice and hooked up.

Then, it’s just a matter of some revelations between the two of them, a touch of magic, and good to go.

Once I have this one wrapped up — or close to — I’ll probably jump on Lowborn, trying to get the penultimate chapter of that one done.  I’ll be sending off SOTM 15 to my editor either tonight or tomorrow as well.

3200 and counting

Yep, I think Heart is going to come together this time.  A very early scene makes a solid connection between my two protagonists this time out, which I was having a lot of trouble with in previous drafts.  One thing that kept bugging me was that the relationship was taking too long to establish, and I was worried that the story would get too long and drawn out for a one-shot.

The most recent brainstorm was to shift an interest of my male protag from something he’d simply been exposed to through his sister into something he was interested in as well.  It’s something critical to my female protag, and almost immediately makes her warm toward him.

The catalyst I mentioned in an earlier post is going to play a part as well.  That’s going to help me move the story along as well, which is a major reason why I’m feeling so much better about the current draft.

Yay.  *laugh*  I’m off to write some more while the clothes wash.

Now I think I’m cookin’

Between that catalyst I came up with, morphing Glen into less of a cocky lady-killer, and starting from word one, I think I finally have all the right elements to move Heart of the Wood along.

I’m working on it right now, and far more confident in the story than I have been since I started on it.  Whew!

If anybody’s curious, here’s the existing family tree for the series.  I built it in one of those free online sites to help me keep track of some things for quick reference, and made a quick screen cap of it.

Xantina Family Tree

Back to the tale =)

Edit a little later:  From 0-2000 words already today, and I’m going back to it in a minute or two.  Yep, I think this is going to work.  You’ll have to excuse me a brief, “WOOT!” 😉

Readin’ and writin’

I read back through Ch. 15 of SOTM, so all that’s left there is to do a final proof, send it off to my editor, and submit.  I think I may go ahead and put this one out on that two week bar, but I’ll probably hold back a little on the remaining, complete chapters.

I’m having the hardest time getting this new Wood story rolling.  I’ve restarted it numerous times, and now recoded the DNA of a primary protagonist from the ground up.  Time’s slipping away, and I have a tradition on the line.

Pressure sucks!

Okay, back to the word processor.

Thanks, everybody :)

The new chapter’s off to a slow start at both sites, but that’s be expected.  After so long on not only this story, but any fantasy tales, only those who really remember my name are checking it out.

Scores at Lit have been positive, with the first 1-bomb showing up only a few minutes ago *laugh*  Still above 4.5 for the time being, so it isn’t really hurt until another bomb takes it below that and drops the H off.  So long as the H remains, it will get hits and new reads.

As the header says, thanks to everyone who’s voted and commented.  I’m off to try to get some writing done, now that I’ve had a nap and a boost from the feedback.
