Heart moving

I’ve got Heart of the Wood moving again.  I think I was trying to move the story too quickly.  I scaled the speed back a little and got a couple of good scenes out of it.  Just need to figure out one more transition, where I need to pass a couple of weeks worth of dating time.  After that, the story is more or less written.

If this child of mine wasn’t acting like an animal, I would probably be writing right now.  There are days when I just want to scream, and this is one of them *laugh*

Ye gods, this is frustrating

I’ve been fighting Heart of the Wood for a few days now.  I’m so close to the spark this story needs, but I just can’t get a handle on it.  I’ve tried skipping ahead and coming back, letting it sit for a while — pretty much everything.

It’s bad enough when I have no inspiration.  Not having any focus on something that does have inspiration is even worse.  I can’t seem to wrap my brain around any other story, either.  This one keeps intruding because it’s “on the tip of my tongue”.

Getting somewhere

Had breakthroughs on two stories ( both as Les ) Heart of the Wood should move pretty smoothly now.  Beyond this point, the story is all but written in my head.

The other is testing new waters ( and a new category )  I’m expecting some torpedoes *laugh*  It’s just a set-up and sex story — plot lite.

Concentrating on those at the moment, because they’re for the Valentine’s contest, and it starts in two days.

Going to try to get a new keyboard tomorrow.  The c key is dead on this one.  I have to type k and use auto correct or paste it any time I want to type it.  Real pain in the posterior.

Bouncing around

I’m sort of alternating between a story in my third name, Heart of the Wood, Lowborn, and SOTM.  Nothing is moving very fast, but at least I’m going somewhere.

I was at another one of those transition spots where I needed to move something along in Heart, and I think I’ve figured that out.  Unfortunately, there are going to be a lot of those in this story.  I have to build a relationship, but I have to do it without the story being six Lit pages long.  They’re often tricky, and my natural tendency is to let the characters run, which usually results in a lot of interesting dialogue/development, but which slows the story down.

It’s much the same in SOTM and Lowborn.  I’m trying to get past a little sticking point, and can’t quite find the right transition.  Lowborn is a near complete rewrite of a chapter I’d already finished, so at least I know where it’s going.  SOTM is at the dead end of a chapter.  If I can just get this transition to work right, I can get this on in the can.

The story in my third name was only a problem because of the form I write in under that name.  If I was writing this story as Les, it would have already been done.  The original idea I had in my head was a bit more complicated, and that flowed pretty easily.  Unfortunately, it was a Les length/plotted story with the word choice and flow of my third pen name.  The characters and basic premise are better suited to the portfolio of my third name, so I pared down and condensed.

Which of course leaves me at a transition, just like everything else I’m working on *laugh*  I have to try to get some sort of believable segue between the set-up and the sex now.  I think I’m almost there, after writing and deleting probably 3-4k words from the Les-long drafts.

Think I’m going to try to get in bed and see if I can’t have at least one productive day of writing tomorrow.  It’s really the last day of my vacation ( I normally have weekends off anyway ) so I hope I can make something out of it.

Slow, but moving

It’s taking me some time to get past the awkward meeting phase in “Heart of the Wood”, but it is progressing.  If I can just get the pacing right through the beginning, I should be good from that point on.

Finally feeling a bit rested and I’ve managed to accomplish some of the other mundane things that I wanted to get done while I was on vacation, so maybe that will help as well.
