May have something here…

In the midst of brainstorming for the next Earth Day story, I actually came up with something suited for Valentine’s day.  I went through and did some mapping on the area around Xantina’s wood and put together a family tree so I could keep track of how old everyone is *laugh*

Try not to think too much about the ages and birthdates in relationship to the era depicted in the stories.  You’ll quickly find out that some things don’t mesh up *laugh*  The elder Daniel would have probably been born in the 20s if you start trying to reason it out.  Just assume that the stories take place in an alternate universe where it’s probably the 2030’s “now” with our current level of technical sophistication.

I already have my female protagonist picked out an envisioned ( although she only has a last name so far ) and this story is going to follow Glen ( Kia’s son, Mara’s brother ) and take place a couple of years after “Kindred” when Glen turns 18.  Even have the basics of the cover image done ( though I had that done for another “of the wood” story ( Sanctuary ) that never got off the ground.

I’m looking at probably giving Xannera some love for the Earth Day story — sort of going back to the roots of the series and putting it in the Non-Human category.

The point is that I’m feeling some serious writing spark while thinking about this.  If I can get this one rolling, it might just be what I need to get other things into gear.

We’ll see what happens.  Having a week off with quiet time with this kind of a spark might just lead to a very productive period.

Off to brainstorm a bit more.

Bit o’ spark

Well, I’m getting a little bit of the writing bug.  It’s mostly centered on my third pen name, but it usually spreads to other things once it awakens.

I’m sort of letting it build up at the moment, trying to let it get to the point where it’s nagging me.  Meanwhile, I’m still tinkering with other things.

Still have time off from work coming, so we’ll see what happens.  Maybe having a whole week off will give me what I need.  Only having a day or two just seems to be encouraging me to sleep and save it up for when I know I’m not going to get it :p

A bit more

I’m still getting a little bit down on “paper” here and there.  There’s a little of the spark, but just not quite enough yet to really get me driving forward on anything at a remarkable pace.

Day off tomorrow.  I’ll see what happens when I have free time and quiet around the house for several hours.  If I can open up something then and get it moving, that might do the trick.  Whether that’s Lowborn, SOTM, the beginning of my next “of the wood” or something in my third pen name, I don’t know.  Just have to see what’s flowing.

Working on Lowborn

It’s a bit slow-going at the moment, but I’m working on rewriting Ch. 06 of Lowborn.  I actually think I’ve found a way to go the new direction while still using at least two of the original scenes I had written previously.

Just have to see how it goes.  I keep getting distracted — which is one of my big problems of late.  I used to be able to write through darn near anything, and now I need almost complete silence to really get down to work.   I end up writing a sentence or two, doing something else for ten minutes, so on and so forth.

At least I’m not staring at blank pages.

Still slumped

I’m still fighting to find the inspiration to write.  I go through this quite often of late.  I end up just staring at blank pages if I fight it.

*sigh* All I can say is that it’s just as frustrating for me as it is for you.

It’s been a rather busy and frustrating week, so maybe things will get better after relaxing for a weekend.  I’ll probably open up something over the next couple of days to see what happens.  That’s usually the way it works.  I open the word processor, and all of the sudden the words flow.  I’ve got little control over it or ability to predict it.

Had an incredible high point with that story in my third name.  Most votes I’ve ever gotten on a single story.  Should have been inspiring, but didn’t even inspire me to finish a second story in that name — let alone anything with a plot or complex characters.

Probably holiday blues.

Anyway, I’ll try this weekend, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll try again next week.  At some point, I’ll get some words down.  Once I do, I usually have at least a short burst.  Hoping to finish some things and get them out as soon as that happens.
