Finally Got It.

Finally got the drive enclosure, so I have all of my files back in my possession.  Now, maybe I can actually move forward *laugh*

I temporarily just dumped the important files ( writing, website stuff ) into my documents folder, which is automatically backed up.  As soon as I have everything actually arranged into a new sensible folder structure, I’ll switch over to backing up every two days, as opposed to once a week.

I shouldn’t have issues with losing files ever again.

Now I need to go deal with my car, which has sprung a coolant leak *sigh*

Working for dunderheads

Well, they managed to correct the problem that kept us at work late all last week.  Considering the volume of product we should be moving on average, this should have been a short week — as last week was supposed to be.

True to form, the suits found a way to completely screw up something else, and I’m stuck there just as long as I was last week *laugh*

So once again, I didn’t make it out to get that drive enclosure.  I seriously doubt that anything will improve throughout the week, so it’s probably either going to be the weekend, or just a day when I feel like making the 40 min. drive after my 40 min. commute home to pick it up.

Wrote a little bit more, and goofed around with that video project — which actually might work out.  I’ll probably post a link to it here ( or maybe even embed it into the blog ) if I go through with it and post it to Youtube.  Hey, at least you’ll get to hear my voice.

Goofing around with this might actually have some benefit related to my writing, though.  I’m experimenting with my sound recording while I’m at this, and that could lead to audio stories at some point.  Odds are that the first such project would be an audio LST3K, because I think that those would be twice as good with me actually doing the goofy voices and sound effects that I type out in text for those.

That’s all for tonight.  Just want to keep the blog active any time that I’m moving forward on things ( even if it is slow )

Short week… Ha!

This was supposed to be a short week.  Monday was, but everything fell apart after that.  I guess I can hope that tomorrow will actually pan out as a short day, but I’m not counting on it.  I haven’t seen any evidence that they’ve corrected the problem that’s been keeping us there.

So, I still don’t have my drive enclosure.  Not sure that I’ll go get it over the weekend, either.  The drive has kept me from going when I got out of work late, and the prospect of making it with the young one isn’t all that appealing either.

I’ll get it in time.  I’d really like to have all my stuff back on this bleeping computer *laugh*

Going to wait for the boy to wind down, and then see if I can write a bit more tonight.  Wrote a little more last night, but mostly on some story starter ideas.

Getting there.

Well, I’ve got my new printer and mouse up and running.  Have all my anti-virus/malware programs installed, Wordperfect and Photoshop are on and working.  Just need to get Word back on here as far as my writing tools go.  I’m going to wait until I get the old drive on this system before messing with any of my programming stuff, because I see no need to download my code editing program again since it’s on that drive and isn’t something you install.

Not sure if I mentioned it in any of those updates, but I’ve retrieved all my progamming stuff from the ( now even older ) computer.  It’s all on one of my usb drives and ready to go.

Setup backups on the new system, so I’ll never lose anything more than a week old as long as that dedicated usb drive holds out.  I may even set it up to go every couple of days instead of a week, depending upon how much my muse is working.

Looks like this new system is going to be quite a bit quicker than the old one.  Photoshop at least loads a hella lot quicker than it did on the old system.  The real benchmark will be when I go to test one of the slower running emulators *laugh*  If those are running full speed, I will be a very happy camper.

Don’t know what I think of Windows 7 yet, but meh…  Just different.  I can probably find settings to retrograde most stuff that’s too annoying back to look like XP if something really gets on my nerves.  At least everything I’ve tried to install thusfar has worked without a hitch.

Okay — back to the download and install fest.  Fun, fun!

Back in action

Well, new computer and I’m hooked back up to the ‘net.

Now, I just need to install all my programs and stuff again.  It was actually my motherboard on my old computer that died, so all of the stuff on my HD is still there.  Just have to wait a couple of days for a hard drive enclosure on order to come in so I can connect the old drive through USB.

Okay, off on my download and install fun.
