I’ve written a little on SOTM 16, Secret of the Wood, and Lowborn today. Just depended upon what was hitting me whenever I sat down at the computer.
Having motivation issues, but at least I am writing. I haven’t gone into a complete downswing just yet. Off to see what catches my fancy again before I crash out for the night.
Nasty snow coming in, so have to be ready for an early morning and a hair-raising drive ( if they don’t close the roads )
Ended up working on Secret of the Wood instead of Lowborn. I read back through Mindblind’s tale, and my boy started acting the ass as soon as I thought about writing.
Brainstormed while I was falling asleep last night on Secret, and felt like going after it when I woke up this morning. I’ve set up the time transition, the basics of the conflict, and started the introduction of the main protagonist ( Younger Daniel )
Now the boy is acting the ass again, so I’m picking up after the tornado damage and staring a lot to let him know that I’m most displeased. With any luck, he’ll chill out. If he actually behaves, I’ll see if he wants to play for a while, and then give writing a try again.
Editing on SOTM 15 and puzzling out how I want the next “of the wood” story to go. Have Lowborn and the next VR:DQ going as well. Just a matter of what strikes me when I have time/peace to work.

Okay, back to editing Ch. 15. At least that’s the plan for the moment *laugh*
Think I have some of the basics for the next “Of the Wood” story going. As with the last two stories, I’m going to jump ahead several years. The primary protagonist this time is going to be young Daniel — just conceived at the end of “Forever of the Wood”
Xanbrina and Gary will be in their 60’s, Xankia and Steve will be pushing closer to 40 than 30. I should imagine that you’ll probably meet Kia and Steve’s young ones, but they’re too young to feature much in the story considering the state of undress common to family gatherings.
Odds are that Kia’s little ( well, the oldest is 13, so not so little ) ones will be the focus of the following story after this one, marking the first shorter jump in time span. We first met the elder Daniel at around five years old, so this story will have been following the family for more than 85 years when I finish the current tale.
I think that someone else associated with the younger Daniel is also going to have a larger role in this story than similar characters have in previous tales. We’ll just have to see how it goes as the story congeals in my head.
That’s pretty much all I’ve done tonight with my writing. I went through and read the series again, figured out how old everyone was going to be, and started meshing it with the ideas I tossed around in my head while at work today.
Other than that, I just uploaded my fifth LP and recorded the sixth to upload tomorrow. Think I’m actually going to go to bed a little earlier tonight. I was pretty beat down from staying up last night.
Wrote a little more on various things, and did a lot of brainstorming on some stories I’ve wanted to write for a while. One of them might even be fleshed out enough to start writing.
Need to sit down and start planning my next story in the “Of the Wood” series, too. Earth Day will be here before I know it.
Didn’t make it out to get my drive enclosure today, either. Got out a little earlier, but just didn’t feel like making the drive. I might see if I can con Sis into watching the young one for a couple of hours so I can go do it this weekend. If not, I’ll hope for better luck getting out early next week.
The boy is wound up tonight, so not much chance of writing. Just can’t handle the distraction. By the time I wind down, after he winds down, I’ll be too tired to write worth spit.
Thought about fixing the link to the blog on the main pages to point to the front page of the blog instead of permalinks, but decided to wait to get the drive enclosure for that, too. I already have my FTP program on that drive with the logon information on it, so I’m just going to transfer that to the new system, too. Just don’t feel like downloading it again, digging up the logon information, etc. to grab one file to edit off the server.
I’ve been waking up ahead of the young one on weekends ( even when I go to bed later ) so maybe I’ll get a little writing done in the morning.
Even if I don’t write anything new tonight, I might do a little spicing on Ch. 16. It needs a little more scene setting than I currently have in there. Trying to stay in that habit, since I’d realized that I fell away from it ( starting around Merchant Princess )
Enough for now. Just want to keep the blog up and running so anyone who visits knows that I’m still active, and not down in the dumps ( too badly ) again.
