Time to side-shift

Well, just couldn’t get Heart done in time for the contest.  Too much going on and my head just wasn’t in the right place to write quickly enough.  So, I’m going to try to side-shift the story into this year’s Earth Day tale.

What sucks is that I’d already finished the cover and had my heart set on a late winter story.  Snow on the cover, a snowstorm that brings the characters together, etc.  Just won’t work in the Wood universe with a move to late April.  I’ve established the climate as very warm for the Earth Day season in the area.  Really liked the snow idea, but my enjoyment of these two characters is trumping that.  Maybe I’ll work on the snow idea with some other characters for Winter Holiday or Valentine’s next year.

Odds are that I’ll end up changing the title when I figure it out, because I’d really like to have “Heart” for a Valentine story some day.

Now I’ve got to figure out how to center more on Earth Day.  The original was more of a love story for the V-Day theme, and I’ve got to conservation it up now.

Sitting here puzzling, because I really can’t afford to let the upcoming deadline slip by like this one did.

As frustrating as it is for readers ( especially on stories like SOTM, which I am still tinkering with and musing — sometimes writing new scenes ) to wait on me, it’s even more frustrating for me.  I used to be able to pump out scenes pretty quickly, and it’s all I can do to get a paragraph down for the last couple of years.  Having your life turned upside down will do that to you *sigh*

Anyway, back to musing.  I really need to get these characters moved to Earth Day and get their story flowing.
