{"id":1600,"date":"2011-04-29T01:39:13","date_gmt":"2011-04-29T05:39:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/darkniciad.com\/blog\/?p=1600"},"modified":"2011-04-29T01:39:13","modified_gmt":"2011-04-29T05:39:13","slug":"yeah-couldnt-resist-any-longer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/darkniciad.com\/blog\/archives\/1600","title":{"rendered":"Yeah, couldn&#8217;t resist any longer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve had code running through my head for the last two days.\u00a0 I&#8217;m just too obsessed with getting at least one backend function working properly as a foundation for building the rest of them eventually.<\/p>\n<p>So, I&#8217;ve managed to write the initial part of it, displaying the information from a custom database.\u00a0 I had to really dig into the software code to find the new way it handles things, in order to take advantage of the many layers of built-in security.\u00a0 Pretty much every function I used in the older version of the software has been changed :p<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that I&#8217;m getting the hang of it.\u00a0 After a couple of victories tonight, I think I have enough of it out of my system to concentrate on writing stories for a while before crashing for the night.\u00a0 I can fetch data from the database, and fetch it conditionally.\u00a0 Next, I&#8217;ll have to get the functions to update down.\u00a0 Once I have a grasp of that, there&#8217;s little I won&#8217;t be able to do, utilizing the code I&#8217;ve already written as a foundation.\u00a0 I should be able to write my backend functions with a minimum of fuss.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, enough about that.\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to email Roust for a status update tomorrow.\u00a0 Hoping he can get the editing on SOTM 16 done this weekend so I can get it in the queue Monday.\u00a0 Not going to push him if he&#8217;s still on an unfamiliar machine, though.\u00a0 But, every so often, when things get a little crazy, he forgets that he has a file.\u00a0 Reminding him might be all it takes to get the edit finished and ready to go *laugh*<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to try to write a little bit, and with all that PHP no longer bouncing around in my head, I might be able to brainstorm <em>plot and characters<\/em> tomorrow at work, instead of functions and variables.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve had code running through my head for the last two days.\u00a0 I&#8217;m just too obsessed with getting at least one backend function working properly as a foundation for building the rest of them eventually.
