Heart ready for submission

Heart of the Wood is back from editing, formatted for submission, and even tested in preview to make sure the tagline fits, the scene separators display properly, and the paragraphing is correct.

I’ll be submitting it some time tomorrow afternoon, expecting a midnight release.

Alternating between working on an Earth Day story in my third name and finishing that scene in SOTM 17.  Hope to have one or the other of them done by the time I submit Heart tomorrow.

Both would be nice.

I’ve added the cover to the covers page ( as well as the one for Kindred, which I somehow forgot ) but here’s a direct link NSFW:

Heart of the Wood Cover

This was originally supposed to be a Valentine’s story, and I’d actually finished the cover before the story fizzled out on me and I couldn’t finish it in time. I actually prefer this one, so I thought I’d show it off.

Sig pic for SOTM 16

Took a break from writing and finished the pic I’m using to advertise the upcoming Ch. 16 of Sisters of the Mists on Lit’s forum.

For those who don’t visit the forum, here’s the pic.  I’m only going to post a link, because the image is NSFW

That’s how I envision Andrea, BTW.  It’s based off the original pic I found when I was dreaming her up, and represents a scene from the chapter.

Now, back to writing for a few minutes on my potential Earth Day story in my third name, and then it’s time to tweak Heart so I can get it off to Roust for final editing.

Heart back from 1st read

Just got Heart of the Wood back from first reading, and I’m dancing a jig because there’s no major rewriting in my future.  Need to tweak a few things, but that should be easily accomplished tomorrow.  I can then get it off to Roust for nuts-n-bolts editing, and have it ready to submit at Lit for the contest on Monday.

With that burden off my shoulders, I’m free to write on whatever tickles my fancy again — and I have a lot of options.  Naturally, I’m going to concentrate on finishing that scene in SOTM 17 first, so I can get 18 up and rolling.

I’ll also be doing my final edit on Ch. 16 soon, to get it ready to submit.  It certainly won’t be in the upcoming week ( because the submission period for the contest is open through the middle of the week ) but it might be the next Thursday at midnight after that.  All depends on how the edit goes, and whether I get too wrapped up in writing to edit.

D’oh! *facepalm*

I just went back to read through the scene in SOTM 17 I was going to use as the jump point for the beginning of 18, and realized that I hadn’t finished the thing yet!

It’s a sex scene, and I’d broken off to write a later scene because conditions at the time weren’t conductive to writing naughty bits.  That’s when I went into one of my slumps, and completely forgot that I’d never finished the thing *laugh*

So, guess I’d better get everyone involved to a nice, hot, sticky climax.  Ch. 17 is going to be pretty long.  It was already a little longer than the three preceding, and finishing the sex scene will crank it up even higher.

Working on a first read on someone’s Earth Day story, so I won’t get much writing done tonight.  I did manage to sneak out of work just a shade earlier, so I took a little nap when I got home.  That might at least let me get down more than the single sentence I’ve written tonight =P

Just waiting on Lynn to get back to me with the first read of Heart, so I know what the damage is.  Once she’s hacked and slashed it, I’ll be concentrating pretty heavily on it to make sure it’s finished in time.  Considering the limited time left in the contest submission period, I’m aiming for a Monday release next week, if all goes well.

Damn, just saw what time it is.  Looks like I may not be getting any more writing done tonight after all.

Yeesh…

Extra long hours at work the last couple of days, and at least a couple more days of it to come.

Regardless, I’ve managed to finish my first-pass edit or Heart and get it off for first reading with ML.  Keeping up with tracking the Earth Day contest, and got a little writing done as well — though, not much.  One of the things that really destroys my ability to visualize is weariness, and I’ve got that to spare right now =P

Nothing really singing to me right now, so I’m writing on the introduction of that potential Earth Day story in my third name.  It will probably end up being cliff notes for the final scene, but it gives me a chance to puzzle through the transitions.

It’s a sign of how much more motivation I have right now that I’m writing at all.  When I’m down, I often don’t feel like writing when I’m wide awake.  Exhausted?  Fugeddaboudit!

Think I’m going to chill for a half hour, watch some television, and then come back to that story for a little while longer before I crash.  Just need to keep the momentum running through the weekend, so I can take advantage of vacation time to write next week.
