Painting the world

I was reading back through some of my older one-shot stories recently, and something struck me.  In tales like Ebon Genesis and Casting off Convention, I did a lot of painting the world around my characters that I simply haven’t been doing of late.  I’m leaning too much on my characters, and it’s time to stop it!  *laugh*

I started working on this with the new Alicia story, and my editor noticed it immediately as he was working through the drafts without me bringing it up.  I think you’re going to be very much pleased with this change when the first new stories hit with the pumped-up imagery.

I’m doing the same thing with Ch. 13 of SOTM.  I’m about halfway done with that chapter, working in spurts and finding it just a little easier each time.

Just an update so everybody knows I’m alive out here.

LST3K Fandom Menace Progress

First things first:  Cinematic Titanic is the new venture from Joel, Frank, Trace, and other MST3K notables.  Add that to Rifftrax, and you’re swimming in MST3K goodness!  Support the gang on all three projects with your hard earned dollars, you won’t be sorry!  I’ve added the link to the “About” page so it will be there even once this entry scrolls down.

“The Fandom Menace” is now through the second stage of development.  I had a brand new riffer audition, and Malkor is on board.  His commentary and scripto’s are in the new draft, along with a few new lines of mine, and it’s in their hands.  As soon as they get it back with any changes/additions, I’ll move on to stage 3, which will probably be the precursor to it going gold.

SOTM and Alicia

When I finished the first section of that new Alicia tale, I found a perfect place to split it into about 7k word chapters.  I’m going to proceed with that in mind, so this one will probably release in 4-6 chapters.  The first chapter is off for editing, and I’m doing some polish on the second chapter.

SOTM is really starting to move now.  I’ve written two or three scenes since last night, and I’m moving right along.  Here’s to hoping I keep that up, so I can release it soon.

A little writing update

Don’t forget my contest/award stories, if you haven’t dropped by in a few days.  They’re linked in my previous update.

I’ve written quite a bit more on that Alicia story, and I do believe it’s actually going to turn into a two or three part story with chapters as long as Ebon Genesis or a chapter of Danica, now.  This one’s gonna be a biggun.  Because of the length of the chapters, I’ll probably leave a few days between each chapter posting, though it will be complete before I post the first chapter.

I wrote a little more on SOTM, and it’s getting a little bit easier.  I’m starting to get excited to tell the next part of the story, and that’s helping overwhelm the pain associated with writing Danica.

I’m slowly, but surely, re-editing Blackhawk Hall as well.  That’s the first step in launching the sequel to the story, which has been slowly bubbling in the back of my head ever since I finished Blackhawk.

I have the plot bunnies hopping around for the next Arts Ardane ( Danica centered ) as well.

Just thought I’d drop a little update.

Contests and writing update

March news off to the cache.

My final Earth Day entry is up at Lit. Go have a read/vote of LST3K Ep. 07: Tree… Hugger?

Don’t forget about my other entry as Les, Daughter of the Wood There’s also the Lit Annual Lit Awards for Chain Stories. If you’re a member at Lit, and you think my nominated finalist is worthy, give it a vote!

That Alicia story is still rolling. This is going to be a long one, probably on a par with Ebon Genesis or a chapter of Book I of Danica. SOTM Ch. 13 is also moving, though still a little slow. I’m getting to where I can handle it a little better, so I hope to get it moving and end the delays. Apologies for that — again.
