Imagery pass complete on Secret

Just finished the imagery pass on Secret.  Just the grammar/spelling grind left before I send it out for first reads.

I’ll probably work on something else tonight, though.  Not sure whether that will be editing on Lowborn, or working on one of the other focus strories in progress.  I’ll figure it out in a bit.

Bit of a blah day

I was actually going to write tonight, but I’m just not feeling it.

I’m working on the next pass through Secret, though I think I’m only going to get about halfway there before I crash.  This is the painting the scenery pass, bringing the world into focus around my characters.  The birds singing, the wind blowing, the green of the leaves, pine needles crunching underfoot…

You get the picture 😉

We’ll see how far I make it.  Who knows, I might have a final burst of energy before I drop off.

181 cans of spam on the wall…

That’s what I woke up to this morning — 181 spam comments to the blog *laugh*

Somebody working overtime at wasting his/her time.  And here I thought that the twenty-some-odd the other day was giggle-worthy.

I suspect that it could be a feeble attempt at an attack by the trifecta of delusion at Lit: bostonfictionwriter, scouries, and sarahhh, as at least one of them has made a threat to contact the ‘multitudes of fans’ recently to get even with me for calling her out on lies.

My apologies if you like their stories, but I have nothing positive to say about any of those three, their alts, and syncophants.  People who do their best to belittle anyone ( who isn’t them ) that has won a contest at Lit, post blatantly racist, anti-woman attacks against anyone who doesn’t worship them, claim to have been in a threesome with a married author who has real talent just to ride her coattails, and mock a grieving mother whose only crime was to share the pain of a stillbirth with her friends on the forum don’t deserve anything but scorn.

All you need is one browse through that thread for ‘serious scholars’ on the story feedback forum at Lit to see that bunch’s true colors.  And no, I don’t recommend reading it in any way, shape, or form.

If such is the case, and one or more of you is looking in to see your handiwork.  Two words:  Epic Fail. 🙂

We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog, already in progress, always spam-free, and now regularly updated!

What’s the point of a blog if I can’t just babble once in a while?  *laugh*

Halfway through my first-pass

Decided to concentrate on weaving the threads of the Earth Day theme deeper into Secret first.  I ended up deciding that it really only needed a touch or two here and there at the beginning, and those few sentences bind everything together nicely.  I added a couple of paragraphs to the sex along the way, bridging what I though was too sudden of a shift to the climax for the scene.

So that’s half the task.  Well, half the task of the storytelling part.  Next up is painting the scenery around my characters in better detail.  I still need to go through after all this and do the nuts-n-bolts check for grammar and spelling.  My guess is that I’ll be ready to send it off for the impression read this weekend.

I think I’m going to jump into a silly idea that popped into my head from a sort of internet sensation floating around right now.  It isn’t even connected to the sensation, really.  I use a couple of lines from it to build the story around, and I’ll probably allude to the original phenomenon, but it’s otherwise just a silly tale with a different feel from a lot of my writing.  It will be coming out as a Les Lumens story, and will probably be a relatively short story.  This will be my first tale with what’s generally classified as a “college atmosphere”, and will be a fantasy story set in the real world.

Not going to say much more about this one until it comes out *laugh*

Lowborn 05 done.

Just finished the fifth chapter of Lowborn a minute ago.  Like Secret, I’m going to let it simmer for a couple of days before I start the first-pass edit.

On that note, I’m going to wade into said edit on Secret this evening.  I’ll figure out where I’m going next after that…  Or perhaps in the middle of it, as I sometimes feel like taking a break from editing to write.  We’ll see.
