Just a quick’n

Well, what ended up striking my fancy was SOTM 17.  I’m coming up to the half way mark on it now.  This scene and the aftermath should easily push it beyond that barrier.

The time away seems to have done me some good.  It’s flowing pretty well, so I’m hoping it keeps up 😀

Whispers

That’s the word that finally stuck and resolved itself into some neat little scenes.  So the summer story will be “Whispers of the Wood” 😀

Time to open up Wordperfect and the several stories I have running to see which one might inspire me tonight.  I’d sort of been concentrating on Queen, but that’s really kind of silly.  The Nude Day contest hasn’t even started, and Summer is quite a ways after that one.  It will be months before the story will ever see the light of day, even if I finish it now :p

Moving again

Writing on Queen right now, and up to about 2k words.  The setup is done, and I’m on the verge of completing the action scene that puts Thakkor and Alicia in my true setting from the story.  A little transition, some hot and steamy fun, and the conclusion wrapping everything up after that.

I spent most of the day musing “of the wood” at work, running various words for the title through my head, and testing them out against the basic framework I have established.  I had a few okay ideas, one or two that lit up, but didn’t really pan out, and a lot of “that won’t work” *laugh*  I do think that I’m getting somewhere, though.  I think the title is the key to this one.  Once I come up with the right word to put in there, the story will write itself.

I’ve had quite a few thoughts about the sequel to Blackhawk Hall as well.  I shifted away from the original premise, which was mostly based upon an image that I thought would be good for the cover, and I’m heading another direction.  It seems to be congealing a bit more now, but it’s still back-burner for the time being.

I’m still musing SOTM as well.  The current scene is still proving a problem, but I’ve come up with some neat paths to explore for shortly afterward.  It should lead to some intense action, including a major battle of significant importance to the story that I actually hadn’t planned on doing just yet.  The more I think about it, the more right it seems to do it now.

I’m thinking that this one is going to come to a head more quickly than I’d originally anticipated.  As I work over the story in my head, I feel that it needs to move at a faster pace — unlike Danica — which was far more day-in-the-life by design.  This was originally going to be a tale nearly as long as Danica, but I’m not going to let an arbitrary length dictate the story.  If the characters are ready to move toward a conclusion, it’s going to happen.

Enough for now.  I’m going to write for at least as long as it takes this load of clothes to go through the first dryer cycle *laugh*  Let’s see if I can get Queen up to the heat before I crash 🙂

Cluttered weekend

Had some things I had to do this weekend, so didn’t get much written.  I managed to get some done on Queen and mused a few other things.  The first read of Lowborn 06 is back with only a couple of questions, so that one’s pretty much gold.  I can move on to the next chapter of it whenever I’m ready.

Just thought I’d drop a line since I’ve been a bit lax with the updates lately.  Hope to have some real progress to report next time I hit the keyboard here.

Found a way

A quick note:  If anybody is experiencing server errors when viewing the site…  Well, I am too.  A simple refresh always loads right up, but I don’t know what’s causing it in the first place.  I’ll look into it, and if I can’t find anything, contact the host.

I was at one of my endless sticking points where Queen of the Isle just wasn’t coming out right.  I took a slightly different tack on the same theme, and it’s moving again.  As a bonus, it added a great deal more action to the lead-in of the story, which I’m very happy with.

Still mulling over the summer “of the wood” story.  I have a framework, but it needs two things to really launch.  One is the ending, and the other is the title.  They’re both really tied together.  I have all the scenes/locati0ns/characters I need, but I just don’t know the final pinpoint destination of the story.  Figuring that out will probably give me the title, and I’ll be good to go.

I also finished the cover for Queen of the Isle, which seems to be a good source of inspiration for me of late.  I keep the cover open and pop it up every time I start to write.  I also blocked out the images for the new Wood tale, getting an idea of what Xanmara looks like, as well as that beach/summer feel, and a place to put the title, when I come up with one *laugh*

Back to Queen.
