2k into 17

Yes, the title of the post is accurate.  I’m already a little over 2000 words into Ch. 17 of SOTM.  One-fifth of the way to the wordcount bar where I like to keep the chapters.  I did say it was flowing, didn’t I? 😀

I’m sure it will be more than that before the night is over.  I’m just on one of those little breaks I have to take frequently when I write nowadays.  I’m going much longer between them at the moment, though.

Chapter 16 done.

Just finished Chapter 16 of Sisters of the Mists a minute ago.  The story is still vivid in my mind, so as soon as I finish with this blog entry, I’m going to move straight into opening up a new document and get Ch. 17 rolling.

If I can maintain this sort of energy level for a few more days, I might just start putting together a set of goals as I did when I was preparing to launch the story the first time.  I’m thinking about a goal of around 5-10 chapters ahead of the last release before I start posting again, but we’ll see when I get there.

The important thing is that the story is moving at a reasonable pace again, something that hasn’t happened in a long, long time.

In the zone

SOTM 16 is officially in the zone of where I try to keep all the chapters: 9-11k words.  Just started the final full scene of the chapter, with only the short chapter closer after that.

The young one just went down for a rare nap, so I’ll probably write a bit of that scene before I try to doze a little myself.  I’d be surprised if I don’t finish it this weekend, even though I’m expecting back the first reads on both Lowborn and Secret of the Wood this weekend as well.

I’ll probably just read the critiques, let them simmer in my head for a while, and continue on with the next chapter of SOTM.  As I said before, I don’t want to hop off that horse while she’s still running strong.

Couple scenes left

Only a couple of scenes left in SOTM 16 now.  It’s really flowing, and I’m just going to stay on the horse until this momentum slows up and I need to give it more muse time.

There’s a lot of foreshadowing going on in this chapter, some of which isn’t going to come to light for quite some time.  It’s a joy to be caught up in this story and have it flow so easily again — even if I don’t have the time I used to have or the ability to crank out thousands of words at a time without taking little breaks every quarter/half hour.

Muse still on track

Between last night and this morning, I added the next scene to SOTM 16.  ( If I’ve said 15 at any point, I meant 16.  Haven’t checked, but that thought popped in my head at some point at work today )

The imagery is coming out beautifully, the plot is moving along, and the characters are singing to me.  I’m over the halfway point of this chapter now, and one scene in particular is probably going to take up the bulk of what’s left.

Managed to squeeze in the final video of the Gladiator LP today, too.  You can just follow the links in the last post to find Ep. 09 if you’re interested.

Still deciding whether I’m going to jump into the next scene of SOTM or hit the hay.  Nice to have this story moving again.  It feels good.
