SOTM 17 up to 8800 words

Finally finished the transition scenes and build up to the hanky panky in this chapter.  This will end up being a long chapter, because the sex scene isn’t going to be one to rush through.

Also got back the impression read of Kindred.  To my relief, it wasn’t drowning in red ink like Secret was *laugh*  I’ll make a few tweaks over the next couple of days, send them off for a look-see, and probably be ready to put it in the queue late next week.

Getting back to SOTM in a few minutes.

A little better

Sort of getting over the fizzling of Queen.  The newest comment and the email that came with it had a lot to do with that =)  Sometimes, it’s the little things that matter the most.

Anyway, I’m alternately writing quips for the LST3K and getting up to the sex scene in SOTM 17.  It’s more or less a matter of what the young one is doing at the time whether I’m writing on one or the other.

With a little luck, I’ll have some forward progress to report by the end of the day.

Workin’ on the LST3K

I’ve been working on trying to get enough solid quips into that awful beach story to get it together into an LST3K.  The less than lackluster response to Queen kind of put me off writing anything serious for the moment — let alone anything in my fantasy world.  I’ll get over it, but I just need a break with the way that one is bombing.  I really do love it, and to have it fizzle that way is disheartening.

Anyway, feel free to leave comments with things related to summer that I can use in my quips.  I’m trying to make as many of them summer related as I can, so that they’re just as much on theme as the crappy story I’m making fun of.  This is a good distraction 🙂

Oh — and I’m seriously considering purchasing an Invision board license.  That was the forum software I coded in before, and I think it might be an easier springboard to work from to get the website back into an actual information source, rather than just a front page and a blog.  The code for the other forum software I’m using right now is just too different from what I’m used to, and learning it is proving more daunting than I had anticipated.

I just don’t have the drive to conquer new languages/software quirks that I used to.

That didn’t take long

Yeah, the votes and views on both new stories pretty much came to a dead halt about 10 last night.  Well, somebody took the time out of their evening to 1-bomb Queen 4 times, but otherwise… *rolleyes*

So, I put them in the queue at SOL a few minutes ago.  If you’re from SOL and feel like tossing me a bone, follow the links a couple of posts back and drop a vote on the contest stories at Lit.  Even though I’m not eligible to win this round because I won on Earth Day, it’s still nice to have a solid vote total in contests to survive the sweeps with the 25 votes to qualify.

Queen of the Isle really needs the help.  It’s sitting with 15, and those last 4 will get swept away for sure.  They’re way too obvious as pattern voting, and the system will surely chew them up.  That leaves me 14 votes to make up to get to qualifying range.

And I like that story so much *sigh*  Let’s see if it was just bad placement in the new list, or the crappy limits at Lit for synopsis that hurt it.  If it tanks at SOL, then I know it’s just not nearly as sweet and fun as I think it is, I guess.

A smidgen more

Having another “blah” night.  I wrote a quick transition scene plus the beginning of another for SOTM 17, but I just can’t seem to get over the hump of a little bit of narrative to get to the upcoming sex scene.  I may try jumping ahead to that in a little bit and see if that works, coming back to fill in the gap later.

Otherwise, I added a couple of quips to that potential LST3K.  The boy is just too wound up tonight for me to get in the flow.  I’ll put my brain on SOTM muse mode tomorrow and see if I can’t get psyched up.

Still waiting on the edits for the two stories I have finished.  Once those are back, I’ll put them in the queue once activity on the two that are already out trickles down.

Don’t forget about Queen of the Isle and Ride No More.  If you haven’t read them, please do 🙂  Queen is especially struggling for some reason that I can’t fathom.  If the voting doesn’t pick up on that one, it’s not even going to qualify for the contest that I can’t win *laugh*

I’ll probably post Queen and Ride to SOL once the feedback begins to trickle down from the two stories that are in editing right now.  I want to make sure to give the contest stories at least some exclusive time on Lit for the contest.  Then the other two will go up there when the feedback trickles down from the first two.

Trying to spread the good vibes from reader feedback out for as long as I can 😀

EDIT A LITTLE LATER:  The young one went to bed not long after I hit submit on this.  I almost finished that narrative, so within a few lines, I’ll be up to the steamy part of the chapter.  That and the closer is going to round this one out.  Maybe I’ll be able to get this chapter in the can within a day or two.  Up to 7900 words.
