Halfway through my first-pass

Decided to concentrate on weaving the threads of the Earth Day theme deeper into Secret first.  I ended up deciding that it really only needed a touch or two here and there at the beginning, and those few sentences bind everything together nicely.  I added a couple of paragraphs to the sex along the way, bridging what I though was too sudden of a shift to the climax for the scene.

So that’s half the task.  Well, half the task of the storytelling part.  Next up is painting the scenery around my characters in better detail.  I still need to go through after all this and do the nuts-n-bolts check for grammar and spelling.  My guess is that I’ll be ready to send it off for the impression read this weekend.

I think I’m going to jump into a silly idea that popped into my head from a sort of internet sensation floating around right now.  It isn’t even connected to the sensation, really.  I use a couple of lines from it to build the story around, and I’ll probably allude to the original phenomenon, but it’s otherwise just a silly tale with a different feel from a lot of my writing.  It will be coming out as a Les Lumens story, and will probably be a relatively short story.  This will be my first tale with what’s generally classified as a “college atmosphere”, and will be a fantasy story set in the real world.

Not going to say much more about this one until it comes out *laugh*

Lowborn 05 done.

Just finished the fifth chapter of Lowborn a minute ago.  Like Secret, I’m going to let it simmer for a couple of days before I start the first-pass edit.

On that note, I’m going to wade into said edit on Secret this evening.  I’ll figure out where I’m going next after that…  Or perhaps in the middle of it, as I sometimes feel like taking a break from editing to write.  We’ll see.

Lowborn 5 almost done

I’m working on one of the last scenes of Ch. 05 of Lowborn now.  I’ll probably finish it tomorrow night, considering how relatively smooth it’s going.  I’m still only writing a few paragraphs at a time, but with only a few minutes between the spurts.  That just seems to be what’s working right now.  Still miss cranking out half a story in one sitting, but oh well.  I’ll take what I’ve got.

I’ll probably work on the first-pass tweaking of Secret of the Wood after that.  Should have been enough time passed with writing on a completely different story for me to catch stuff in that by then while I’m painting the world in a bit brighter colors and strengthening the Earth Day theme.

Frazzled.

My nerves probably look like the hair of one of those wishing trolls right now.  The boy has been a holy terror all weekend.

I’ve managed to get about a third of the way through that sex scene in Lowborn, but it’s been a paragraph at a time all day.  That’s about how long I have before I have to scream about something else, and then it’s a half an hour or more before I remotely have the presence of mind to type another paragraph and start the process again.

I may have to take a day off work soon to relax before I lose me bleedin’ mind.  Hate to do it, because I’ve had to take off so much already this early in the year.  I did have a lot of extra time left at the end of the year last year, though *shrug*

Maybe I can make it until my next scheduled vacation in April.

He’s finally winding down, so maybe after he does, and I wind down, I can get back to writing.
