Danica Prelude Live

Danica Prelude just went live.  Go vote!  Public comments would be nice too.

“The Arts Ardane” just went live here, and has been submitted to Lit at the same time.  You can read it here first, but go vote on it there once it’s accepted.

Part 2 just got it’s red H, but I’ve obviously got to work hard on pimping out Part 4 to get it there, it came out on a bad day, and so is only up to seven votes thusfar.  Going to have to work hard for my H there.  Prelude already has one vote after only an hour or so of being up, and part 6 is up to five.

I’ll probably be updating the most recently posted map again tonight, as well as adding a map for the region where Danica and Devan grew up, to give an idea of where things are there for Ardane and Prelude.

Danica 06 Live

Part six just went live, and part seven is submitted.  Danica Prelude should go live within a day or so, it has already been viewed once by the editors.  Go vote!  A public comment would be nice too 😉

Twice now, trolls have one bombed Sci-Fi/Fantasy.  The first time, it was every story in the catagory until nothing had a score above 4.93.  The troll sweep eliminated that bombing run, but a couple of days later, the trolls returned.  This time, they only attacked the stories with low vote totals (mine included) and killed them off the list.  It’s obvious somebody writing in some other catagory is upset that Sci-Fi/Fantasy has a readership that rarely low votes, and thus the stories in that catagory tend to rise on the overall rankings.  I think I’m either going to “4” vote all my stories shortly after they are submitted or persuade one of my regular readers to do it for me.  This will keep the story from artificially sitting on the top of the catagory with a 5 when it hits ten votes, thus exposing it overmuch to the trolls and supplanting stories with more votes that really belong there.

I’m about halfway through “Arts Ardane”, and it should go live here soon.  I’d say Tuesday at the latest.  I’ll submit it to Lit as soon as it is complete as well, so don’t forget to go there and vote on it if you decide to read it here.

New Series — The Arts Ardane

Ah well, one bomb trolls murdered all my scores.  Hope the troll sweep picks up mine and slaps them down at some point, otherwise, I’ll just have to try to attract attention to my stories with the new ones and bring them back up from the crapper.  It felt good to sit up there near the top for a while though.

Had a *major* flash of inspiration today.  I had a story just pop into my head and build while I was working, and I’m getting the outline together now.  So now I have three projects running simultaneously.

I have Cerebus, which is now likely to be titled Blackhawk Hall because of the broader range of characters and potential multi-part storyline, having just hit the first major plot point after introductions and character building.

I have the next part of Danica to edit, which I better jump on *tonight*.

Last, but not least, I have “Arts Ardane” now in the works.  This is a retro tale taking place even earlier than Thakkor and Blackhawk, focusing on Devan and Danica, the Ardane sisters.  Odds are, this will be a series of unconnected, self-contained stories focusing on the two sisters, but centered on Devan most likely.  For now, it’s simply one tale that I think is *really* going to go over well, and perfectly outlines a bit of important Devan history.

Duke Cerebus Update

I’ll edit part seven tonight, so that it’s ready to go when six is approved in a couple of days.

Just added the beginning of a new map for the nation of Agreseus, where Danica is sent on a task in part six to the city of Gottside.

Had another surge of votes, and unfortunately that tenth 5 vote put Part 5 in troll territory.  A single 1 vote dropped it down completely off the radar, and a subsequent 5 has done little to recover it.  Such is the way of things when you’ve got people hanging around with nothing better to do than try and kill story ratings.  At least it made it’s “H”, and I suppose it genuinely could have been someone who just didn’t like the story, it just doesn’t seem all that likely under the circumstances =P  I’ve got two parts yet missing H’s, and they both have straight fives as well.  Odds are they’ll both end up in the same boat unless they pick up a four or something along the way.  Making the top 10 is a guranteed troll slap it seems.  I guess it is always possible a Lit Troll sweep could wipe out those 1’s and recover my real rating, so I guess I can hope for that.

Duke Cerebus is transforming even as I write it.  A character I slapped in there more or less for the sole purpose of introducing the main characters and the setting has jumped her reins and taken on a life of her own.  This is now starting to feel more like a small series than a short story.  I guess you’ll not only get introduced to Mindblind and Christi in this tale, but  get to know Arilee as well.  I’ll be learning about her at the same time you do, because frankly I think she’s writing this one at times.

Danica 05 Coming Soon

Part five is available, and part six is submitted.  I’ve made a lot more effort to apply feedback from Lit in the editing of part six, and I hope those who are reading the story will notice the improvement as each part is released.

I’ve also made a few changes to the Danica Prelude on my short stories page, adding some more vivid descriptions of characters to help flesh them out.  I decided to also submit this one to Lit, and it should go live shortly after part six.

I’m pleased to see my ratings continue to rise, and hope to see those which are missing H’s acquire them soon.  I’m curious as to how high Thakkorias can rise in the rankings as well.  A couple more fives could put it near the top five of Sci-Fi/Fantasy and near the top ten overall.

I’ll probably be releasing a new map soon on the maps page, because part six of the story has a scene taking place in a new area which is not yet depicted in map form.
