Nearly done with Ch. 12

I’m around 80% finished with SOTM 12, and I should have it finished soon.  I’ll pop in with a note when I send it off to Roust for editing.  Once I got the rhythym of this one battle down, everything is flowing well again.

I’m working on building up a local story page again, similar to the one some may remember from way back when on the website.  It will have text versions of some of my stories, html versions, and ebooks in mobipocket reader format ( which works on most PCs and portable devices, and the reader is a free download )  This will let you take some of my stories with you portable.  I’ll take requests to add to the number of ebooks once it launches as well.

I’m also working out some technical issues to add some dynamic content to the website.  That could mean a forum, and some other interactive content, as well as some possible personalization of the website by users.  It will make my LST3Ks a lot easier to work on too, once I write the code to handle online editing of a story by multiple users.

I think I’m going to start on that Alicia story as soon as I finish this chapter of SOTM, too.  I need to have a little variety going at all times, and a one-shot story always keeps my juices flowing better than a new multi-parter.

Introducing Darkniciad.Com

Welcome to the new home of my webpages, Darkniciad.Com!

I was getting frustrated with the downtime and other problems with my old host, so it’s moving time!  I also reorganized the whole website in the process of preparing to upload it.  It should make things easier for me when I’m updating as well.

Ch. 11 of SOTM should be out soon, and I’m still working on 12.

Hope you like the new home with no annoying banners, slowdown, or images that don’t load sometimes even though they’re on the server.

SOTM 11 in the queue & Computer Woes

Found out as I tried to install my broadband that the network card in my PC I’ve been using is fried.  It’s an on-the-board one, so I can’t just replace it.  Solution:  Drag out the other computer.  It’s faster and a lot brighter, but just doesn’t have much HD space.  Thus, I’m working on solutions to get me by for now, until I can figure out how to get all my data back in one place.  I should have enough of my files on the ‘puter with broadband to get things moving now.

As to things moving: SOTM 11 is in the queue at Lit.  As soon as it goes live there, I’ll put it in the queue at SOL.

With the brighter monitor, I finally had the opportunity to go in and fix a cover image or two that had some bad spots in them, which I couldn’t see on the other computer’s dark-assed screen.

SOTM and Alicia

Should do my first-pass edit and get Ch. 11 off to Roust later today.  Ch. 11 ended up at around 12k words, which makes it a little longer than a lot of the chapters.  I’m around 20% done with Ch. 12, and I haven’t moved into the big battle that will dominate that chapter yet.  That should move the chapter along pretty quickly.  Fights and sex always seem to move the chapters faster than anything.

That Alicia history tale is really starting to come together now.  I finally figured out the little sticking point that was keeping it from moving forward, and I’ll probably start on it soon.  The original history from her character sheet just doesn’t translate well into a story.  I modified it just a touch and found the way to move it forward as a story while remaining true to the spirit of that ancient notation.  This is fairly similar to Ebon Genesis, which is a modification of the history from Zoraster’s character sheet.

I’m very likely to do the edit for Blackhawk Hall before I post the Alicia story ( “Merchant Princess”, BTW )  I already cleaned up every other story in the Nobles series, so this is the last one.  As a matter of fact, I do believe this is the last re-edit in this string of re-editing, unless I’m mistaken.

More in days to come.  I’m moving a little slow right now, because I’m transitioning internet service.  The good news is that I’ll finally have broadband again after seven years of dial-up come Tuesday.  That will make life a lot easier for updating, uploading, researching, and everything else necessary to get the stories up and moving.
