You never know

Didn’t feel like working on Amber tonight, so I worked on SOTM a little bit more instead.  Got the next scene rolling, and I’m a quick magical flight away from an action scene now.  The biggest part of this chapter is going to be all Marlena and Danica, venturing into a land in my world that I haven’t explored thusfar.

We’ll see what I feel like putting a few paragraphs on in the morning *laugh*  That’s the biggest problem with my overall production right now.  I’m not just pounding out chapters/stories in a few sittings.  There are always several stories moving along all at the same time.  When something gets done, it will post.  But until then, I just have wordcount building up, waiting for conclusions.

Does sort of lead toward floods of releases, though.  Just wish that they weren’t so far apart.

Yeah, took a day off

Just didn’t feel like writing yesterday.  Didn’t feel like doing anything, really.  I was tired and blah all day long.

Woke up this morning and jumped right into Amber.  The scene is flowing finally, so maybe I can finish the dadgum thing *laugh*

Going to work on the final bit of adding imagery to Secret tonight so I can get it off for an impression of the second draft.

Odds are that I’ll put together a brief synopsis of another story at some point tonight too.  I’ve had a general thing floating around in my head for a while, but it really coalesced today at work.  It’s essentially taking the Alice Cooper album “Trash” and making a story out of it *laugh*  I’ll probably just call this one “Alice” when I mention it, but I think the title is actually set in stone in my head.  This one will be Les Lumens.

Always adding bits to SOTM along the way.  Once I clear the plate of Secret ( because of the contest ) and Amber ( because it’s so close to done ) It’s going back on primary.  That is, if I don’t have a massive flash of inspiration and do that beforehand, as I’ve done a time or two recently.

Sort of a lazy day

I did a few tweaks on Secret, despite saying that I was going to leave it for a couple of days.  A few minor things popped in my head today, and I decided to get them in before they got buried under something else.

Worked just a bit on Amber as well.  After reading through the ending again, it felt a little weak.  I’m trying to nudge it into something a little stronger, and just a bit more humourous.

I may still write a little tonight — probably on SOTM if I do.  I took a long nap after work today, so I’m not really tired right now.  Odds are that I’ll just mention anything else in the next post tomorrow, rather than updating this one — unless something exciting happens.

2nd Draft on Secret mostly done

Just finished the restructuring, hackin’ and slashin’, and adding new scenes to get the second draft of Secret of the Wood in order.  I’m going to let it sit and simmer for a couple of days again, give it a final tweak pass, and then get this draft out for an impression.

In the meantime, back to SOTM and Amber. 😀

Also, I set the blog up to close comments on entries older than 90 days.  Doubt anybody would have reason to do so, and almost all of the spam comments were coming in on old entries — one in particular that’s years old, actually.

Should cut down on having to empty the spam queue as often.

Workin’ the new scene in Secret

I’m just about done with the next new scene in Secret.  This one serves several purposes.  First, it deals with Lynn feeling a bit cheated about setting up a date in a lot of detail, and then cutting away from it to afterward in the next scene.  It also puts a little more Earth Day flavor into the mix, strengthening the theme in a direct fashion, which she felt was weak in the story.  There’s more, but babbling about it would give away too much of the plot *laugh*

Suffice to say, all of the new scenes are for the express purpose of pumping up elements that she felt were weak in the story, and/or replacing important plot points that originally involved other family members — whom I’m relegating to a much lesser role in the tale.

After that is tweaking a couple of scenes and cutting one with Steve and Gary out of the story completely.  As much as I loved the interaction in that scene, Lynn’s right that there are just too many characters to handle.

I was getting that feeling in SOTM, too.  Part of what’s got me moving again is that I was in just the right place to put a lot of characters in that story sort of behind the curtain for a while, letting me focus a bit more.

But, back to Secret.  I think that I only have one new scene that I’ll need to add after this one, mainly for character development of my female lead.  Everything else will involve tweaking existing scenes.  Not sure that I’ll have it done in ten days for the opening of the contest, but I’m fairly confident that it will be finished in time to enter.
